Truth Sets You Free

“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”

The waves look inviting, but scary

You are at the seashore looking outward. On one hand, you could stay on the sand, stay safe and dry. You would enjoy the view, the sound of the waves, and avoid the dangers of the sea. But on the other hand, you could step in, feel the thrill of the water, and experience the joy and excitement of the waves. That way holds adventure, but also unpredictability. Waves can knock you down. It takes energy and perseverance to get past the surf out to the deeper waters. Anything can happen.

Jesus invites all of us out on the water. Few, like the disciple Peter, will respond positively to his invitation. But it’s out in the water that we truly encounter Jesus as a Transformative Truth. It’s when we take risks, abandon any Plan B, step away from the certainty of theories and trusting our own ideas, and accept the uncertainty and excitement that comes with stepping out in trust that we get to experience that Jesus is who He says He is. And encountering the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life changes everything in every sphere of our lives.
